Believe it or not...I've updated my blog!!!

Well, its been several months since I have posted anything on here, so I'm not sure how many people are actually checking back here, but for those of you who are, let me just give you a little update.

We are finished with chemo (finished about 2 weeks ago); Kayden did amazing through the process. He doesn't like to be poked and has gotten sick a little bit, but for the most part chemo didn't slow him down at all. I know this is because of faithful prayers-thank you so much! Throughout this process Kayden has managed to gain all his weight back and then some, grow about half an inch, keep all of his hair and most of his energy. Even his appetite was only effected for a few days after each dose of chemo.

Its crazy to me that his treatment went so quickly, I can't imagine how it is for those going through 2 year long treatments. Praise God for his faithfulness in carrying us through. We still have a number of tests and scans to be completed, in fact it will be 5 years before Kayden can be considered cured from the Wilm's tumor. For now we will continue to go into Emmanuel once a month to have his port accessed until that is removed (sometime in the spring/summer of '10). For the next year we will have tests and scans done every 3 months, and after that, as long as everything goes well, we will move to twice a year.

Until his port comes out we still need to be cautious of fevers so we need to keep him in the "bubble" he's been in through treatment. We would really appreciate your prayers for our whole family's health, but especially Kayden's this winter. We also appreciate you understanding that if you're sick, we can't wait until you feel better so we can hang out with you then! :)

One very exciting thing is that Kayden has been granted a wish by Make a Wish foundation. We are scheduled to go to Disneyland early next year, and are so excited to do so! More on this later, I'm sure!

Again I want to thank all of you for your prayers. It was a crazy beginning, but by the grace of God things have slowed down! I just pray that they will stay that way. Pray for no fevers, no sickness, something Kayden really hasn't known in his lifetime! In fact this is the longest he's gone without being sick-Praise the Lord!

May God richly bless you all for your prayers and support through all of this (even those who have been praying without updates!). Thank you.

A little video of Kayden blowing bubbles! And there are many pictures that I just posted for those who are interested!

Everyone loves his hat!

So tired the few days after chemo...see his "trow up" bin holding all his animals?

onto the fun!

Now we get to wait in the playroom!

Of course, we always have to play doctor. Do you need me to put you to sleep so I can cut you open?

He keeps his arm tucked up tight to his body the whole time we are there.

At least they have trains!

Heading home!

Quick! Run! Before they change their minds and say we have to stay after all!

Mommy and Kayden are so happy to be leaving after almost 3 weeks in the hospital!

Even though we left Portland after 8;30 at night, this is the smile on his face the whole way home.

So good to be at home "helping" to unpack at our new house!

Getting ready for surgery #2

He wasn't as playful this time around.

We were both so ready to flee the hospital, so tired.
Look at me! I'm eating goldfish! First food in 2 1/2 weeks!

recovery attempt

He got so swollen. We had a nurse have her "weekend," and when she came back his swelling had gone down--she didn't even recognize him!

Learning to walk all over again.

It was a miny hospital parade!

The doc's finally said it was okay for him to have a sucker to help his throat. It was very sore from the ng tube!

moving out of ICU

Once he woke up a little in the morning, he wanted my hand. He wouldn't let go.

Snuggling Daddy, still very drugged.

Bubble thearpy helped raise his oxygen levels so we could take him off of the oxygen
machine. It also really perked him up!

He is a tummy sleeper. Even with an epideral he managed to turn
over onto his tummy.

He woke up at one point asking for "Blue"

Waking up in ICU and getting ready to move back to our other room.
(Bree gave him this fish when he got out of surgery and he held onto it most of the night.)
